========== EPISODE 3 ==========

Sirius thought about something for a moment, then looked at the thug standing at the very front and opened his mouth.

His expression was incredibly serious.

-Please go sit in the corner immediately.

Perhaps because the words sounded like a command, the thug frowned.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but Sirius was faster.

-People are complaining of discomfort because of your head.

Silence flowed.

-Pfft.

A sound leaked out from someone who couldn’t hold back their laughter.

To explain what Sirius had just said, I first had to explain that a fire had been lit in the underground storage. It was because one of the people trapped inside could use simple fire magic.

In other words, it meant there was a light source.

And when is a person’s head most associated with light?

Exactly when they are bald.

That’s right. That thug was a bald-headed guy.

The thug’s face turned beet red. His empty head, without a single hair, turned red as well.

Because it looked just like a cooked octopus, it was even funnier, so people did their best to keep their mouths shut or even pinched their own thighs to keep the laughter from leaking out.

The reason Sirius said something so out of the blue was obvious. I looked at the window floating in front of Sirius.

[Mission]

[Tell the man who came to the front, ‘People are feeling uncomfortable because of your head, so please go sit in the corner.’]

[Reward upon mission success: Old Sword]

That’s right. I made Sirius commit a cheap and cowardly personal attack.

And on something that even modern medicine couldn’t find a solution for.

But it was true that his smooth head was shining and blinding. This was clear light pollution.

-W-what are the men in my family supposed to do about this…

The bald guy muttered, looking resentful as he placed his hand on his head. Even so, his empty head wasn’t fully covered and was shyly peeking out between his fingers.

[Mission Success! Item will be provided!]

[Old Sword]

As the window appeared in front of Sirius, an old sword was placed in his hand.

I guess the mission success processing is automatic.

The thugs stiffened in panic at the sword that suddenly appeared out of thin air.

They watched Sirius’s next move with tension. Perhaps they thought he might steal their food.

The sword visible on the screen didn’t look high quality, even to me, who knows nothing about weapons.

But it was the only object that could be called a weapon. Unlike the fruit knives the thugs had.

I’d teased the bald guy, so Sirius would handle it from here. I watched the next situation with an easy mind.

As if living up to my expectations, Sirius adjusted his grip on the sword with a clean motion and opened his mouth.

-All three of you, go back and sit down.

The low-pitched voice sent shivers down my spine just hearing it. The thugs went back and sat in the corner that seemed to be where they were staying.

Watching that, Sirius lowered the sword he had been pointing at them and went to sit in his place.

Thus, the situation ended.

The innkeeper sighed in relief and sat next to Sirius. The child looked around and sat near them.

Great! The possessor did it!

All I did was tease the bald guy, and Sirius handled the situation, but still.

Now that I had some breathing room, I decided to greet Sirius.

We’re going to be interacting a lot in the future, so I should get close to him.

Actually, there was another reason for doing this. It was because of the Listener’s end in .

The Listener meets their end by being eaten by Sirius, who has become a monster. So, I also had to try not to meet such an end.

You ask, “Since I’m not that crazy guy anyway, won’t I avoid poetic justice?”

I don’t know. It’s not like I’m next to Sirius, and I can’t help him overcome the trials that befall him.

Even if I help, it’s Sirius who has to go through all sorts of things, and it’s his mental state that gets chipped away.

Therefore, it was easy to be seen as a being who just orders him to do this and that from a safe place.

So I had to be careful. To avoid being hated.

I thought for a moment and then pressed the message sponsorship button.

[Your current intervention level is low.]

[You can only send emojis provided by Komos as messages.]

What is this again.

Is this why the Listener in the early to mid-parts of didn’t send any messages? Just tossing out missions here and there.

“Emojis are recommended in real-time based on your emotions, God-nim!”

Haemi said as if introducing it. It was a decent feature, at least.

For my greeting to him, I chose an emoji of a waving hand and sponsored it along with a random item.

[Message sponsorship from your contracted god, ‘Listener of Wishes Drawing Lines’]

[ ( ᐛ )づ ]

[Sponsored Item: Old Helmet]

Sirius looked at the window where the emoji appeared.

-I am glad to meet you too.

Fortunately, it seemed he recognized the meaning of the emoji.

It might have been confusing for him, living in a world where emojis don’t exist, but there was no such sign.

He just stood before the system window and greeted me reverently, as if doing so to a great god.

Then, people’s gazes turned to him.

Ah. I guess those people can’t see the system window. They must think Sirius is doing this to thin air.

I’m sorry, Sirius-ya… I didn’t think of this…

[Message sponsorship from your contracted god, ‘Listener of Wishes Drawing Lines’]

[ (T-T ) ]

[Sponsored Item: Old Cloak]

-It is fine.

Thank you… Our contractor has such a big heart…

After that, there were no recommended emojis. It felt like I had been caught in the fact that I had nothing more to say.

I couldn’t make small talk with emojis, and I didn’t want to drain the energy of someone who had been starving for days by constantly making them talk.

Then, shall I try solving another problem?

Before the thugs decide to use sleep magic on Sirius.

The reason the thugs killed the child was because of severe thirst and hunger. If so, I just need to make sure they aren’t hungry or thirsty.

I didn’t feel like giving food to those guys who hadn’t done anything good, but for the sake of Sirius and my safety, I had no choice.

I looked through the sponsorship item purchase window to see if there was anything edible.

But, there wasn’t a single item of food.

Uh, what do I do? Is this ruined?

But I didn’t give up and asked Haemi.

“Haemi, why is there no food in the shop?”

“Ah, you have to make the food to sponsor it!”

Haemi, who flew around the system window, popped up two windows.

[Baking Set]

[Water Supply Set]

“You can currently use these two items to make food and water that can be sponsored!”

So that was it.

The price wasn’t much, so I pressed the purchase button immediately, and two boxes, each with a picture of bread and a water droplet drawn on them, appeared above my body as I was still lying down.

[Baking Set]

[Installation set for sponsors. Can make bread for sponsorship.]

[Water Supply Set]

[Installation set for sponsors. Can make drinking water for sponsorship.]

First, I opened the Baking Set box. Then, a countertop and oven that you might see in a bakery appeared in a transparent form, overlapping with the bed, and they soon turned red.

[Another object is already installed at the installation point.]

Why are you acting like I’m installing furniture in a game?

Just in case, I gestured, and the form of the Baking Set moved accordingly.

Fortunately, the space where I opened my eyes had little in it and was just wide, so there was plenty of space to put things.

I installed the Baking Set in a random spot, and then took out the Water Supply Set.

This had a well and, out of nowhere, a small tree next to it. I installed it roughly next to the Baking Set.

The time came when I had to leave the bed. I suppressed the urge to give the bed a goodbye kiss, got out of bed normally, and headed to the Baking Set.

Before I could even rummage around for ingredients, a lump that looked like flour and water had been roughly mixed appeared on the countertop.

[Baking Set: Let’s knead the dough.]

It was a relief that I didn’t have to start by making flour from wheat.

I started kneading the dough as the Baking Set told me to. I tried not to recall the scary story that if you get into baking, you’ll get muscles in your arms.

Before long, I succeeded in making the dough smooth.

[Baking Set: Let’s divide the dough and put it in the oven.]

I took off appropriate amounts of dough, made them round, and lined them up on the tray. After finishing that task, I went to the oven.

[1:00]

The oven’s timer was set to 1 minute.

I don’t know much about bread, but I knew that bread wouldn’t be fully baked in that short amount of time. But there were no buttons on the oven.

Should I just put the dough in? If it doesn’t work, I’ll just run it for 1 minute several times, and it’ll work out somehow.

Here, the characteristic of a person who can’t cook appeared. It was the thought, “This should work, right?”

Although it was my choice to try to cook it shortly on high heat when it should be cooked for a long time on low heat, this time I had no choice.

Hoping it would turn out well somehow, I put the tray in the oven and closed the door, and it started automatically.

Ding!

After 1 minute, a cheerful sound rang out. Somehow, the smell of well-baked bread came out.

Feeling suspicious, I put on the oven mitts that were placed next to it and took out the tray, and the bread was well-baked.

Wow, to think the bread was fully baked in 1 minute. I thought it was a strange oven, but it turned out to be a cheat item.

[Baking Set: Your kneading skills are lacking. Please try harder.]

If it’s lacking, you do it!

Because of the Baking Set’s harsh evaluation, I picked up one piece of bread and ate it, wondering if it might be inedible.

It wasn’t a taste I would want to pay for.

Still, it wouldn’t matter as long as it could fill their stomachs.

Since the people in the underground storage would starve to death faster than my kneading skills would improve, I ignored the window the Baking Set popped up and continued to bake bread.
