I Awakened With My Dark History - Chapter 06
========== CHAPTER 6 ==========
If I had to pick the phrase that best suits me right now, it would probably be ‘A story blinded by curiosity’.
Because I installed the app solely out of curiosity about my Awakening ability.
‘But how could I not check this out? They said the annual salary is at least 100 million won! If I had that kind of patience, I would’ve already entered Korea University as a top student, received a full scholarship, and landed a job at a major conglomerate.’
I clicked on the installed app.
Gamja Market.
It’s an anonymous dungeon party recruitment app.
Since it’s an app you can use without signing up, safety issues do arise, but there were consistently people using it.
That’s because there are quite a few unaffiliated hunters like me who want to hide their names or run dungeons on a short-term basis.
And as if to prove that fact, posts were popping up on the app’s main screen without rest.
Various conditions like rank, region, and ability were attached.
I hesitated, then moved to the detailed search page.
I didn’t want to go too far, so I put my region into the detailed search criteria.
Fortunately, there were a few posts that had just been uploaded.
As I scrolled down, many of the posts in the long list had already been marked as completed.
The only parties I could join right now were the dozen or so that had been posted recently.
Among them, one title stood out in particular.
“My skill is a Supporter type. I think it’ll be fine.”
If I had to be specific, I was a healer who also doubled as a Supporter.
It seemed difficult to contact D-rank dungeon parties with no information or C-rank dungeon parties that didn’t accept beginners.
I eventually clicked on the ‘Emergency Supporter Preferred’ post at the very top.
I sent a message and waited for a moment.
For some reason, I was nervous, and my hands were sweating.
Perhaps the other person was also waiting for a message just like me, because a reply came back quickly.
“Gasp!”
I felt unnecessarily embarrassed when a reply came to the message I sent.
I couldn’t tell if it was because my skill characteristic was Dark History or because of the tension regarding the dungeon.
I rubbed my palms against my pants to shake off the tension, then gripped my phone again.
What does this mean? I typed my question directly into the chat room.
At the other person’s question, I remembered the C-rank dungeon post I had seen earlier.
I moved my fingers anxiously to reply.
It was the fastest reply yet. It seemed they were worried I might misunderstand and leave.
On top of that, the other person added an explanation.
Aha. So they meant what kind of Supporter I was.
I turned on my system window for a moment to check.
When I replied quickly, the other person’s response paused for a moment.
Even expressions that hunters use familiarly are not familiar to me.
I didn’t know what Enhancement Value was, so I rummaged through the internet.
As if they had anticipated that, the other person’s text continued.
I closed the search portal and immediately sent a reply to the other person.
Objectively speaking, is it a high number? Or a low one?
I expected the other person to show some reaction related to that, but unexpectedly, their reaction was calm.
Only a link to the group chat room invitation within the Gamja Market app appeared.
Hmm, maybe it’s not ‘calm’ but ‘urgent’? I hope I’m a talent they don’t want to miss.
The other person didn’t even check my answer.
It seemed they were already waiting in the group chat, so I also entered the group chat room.
It was a chat room where 6 people were already participating besides me.
Party Leader, Dealer 1, Dealer 2, Tanker 1, Tanker 2, and Supporter (S). There were six of them.
The Dealers and Tankers welcomed me happily.
I received their greetings and waited for the Party Leader’s announcement.
Just then, a chat from Supporter (S) popped up.
The question that came up abruptly without even a greeting felt quite rude.
I felt slightly uncomfortable, but I answered honestly.
‘Since the Party Leader said it’s okay, it must be okay.’ And 3 seconds later, a reply that would make me regret it came back.
The group chat room sank into silence.
It seemed like everyone couldn’t even think about moving their fingers.
I barely managed to pull myself together and posted an answer in the chat window.
No, what kind of obstruction is this?
I was speechless… no, my ‘finger-speech’ was completely blocked.
At his continued criticism, the Party Leader eventually stepped in.
But the other person didn’t back down on their opinion even in front of the Party Leader.
I didn’t. Because that can’t be anonymous.
From the fact that my reply was delayed, the other person seemed to have read my answer.
They had an arrogant attitude as if they were the Party Leader themselves.
The Party Leader posted a reply quickly, but the other person was stubborn.
And I, too, ended up feeling offended.
It was obvious that if I met them face-to-face like this, the future would only be unpleasant.
I clenched my teeth and typed quickly.
My reply went up in the middle of the sharp conflict between the Party Leader and Supporter (S).
The Party Leader caught me with typing speed incomparable to before.
And ‘Supporter (S)’ also sent a message that was infuriating, incomparable to before.
As if their ‘finger-speech’ was blocked, the Party Leader’s chat eventually stopped too.
I didn’t converse any further and just bolted out of the chat room.
Messages from the Party Leader flew in one after another, but my mind didn’t change.
“What the hell, what kind of jerk is that? Do you even know my skill?”
You shouldn’t know. Definitely.
My reason said so, but my emotions didn’t.
I rummaged through the system window and pouted.
The regret of what I couldn’t say in the chat room swirled in my head.
‘My skill looks objectively decent…’
Since I had no experience, I couldn’t even refute it.
To confidently refute such words, I needed at least one dungeon experience.
Naturally, my eyes turned to the next recruitment post.
It’s not that I’m listening to that annoying Supporter’s words. I’m not, but…
My hand was already touching that recruitment post.
